Congressman Cohen Announces $2.7 Million in FEMA Grants to Memphis Fire Department

Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that the City of Memphis will receive two grants totaling $2,771,378 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Program. One grant of $1,680,469 is for operations and safety. The other, of $1,090,909, is for vehicle acquisition.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

“I am pleased to see these investments in the Memphis Fire Department, which will improve fire safety and potentially save lives.”

The Fiscal Year (FY) 2021 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program is making available $414 million directly to fire departments, State Fire Training Academies and nonaffiliated emergency medical services organizations to enhance their response capabilities and to more effectively protect the health and safety of the public and emergency response personnel from fire and other related hazards.
