U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-09) today voted in favor of H.Res.956, a resolution expressing the House’s support for the people of Ukraine. Pascrell is a longtime supporters of a strong US-Ukraine relationship. New Jersey’s Ninth Congressional district includes a large and vibrant population Ukrainian Americans.
“When I visited a Ukrainian church in my community last week, the sadness was overwhelming. A woman shared with me that she cries every night because she imagines Russian tanks trampling her parents’ graves. In this dark hour, Ukrainians here in New Jersey and across the world must know the United States is with them,” said Rep. Pascrell, a member of the bipartisan Congressional Ukraine Caucus. “I am proud to back this measure as one part of our response to the current crisis. We will continue to enact and enforce each tool in our American toolbox to force Russia to leave its neighbor alone. And we will continue to work as one part of an international team in pursuit of peace. The sanctioning measures already imposed by the Biden administration are bringing the Russian economy to its knees and we need to keep pouring it on. Our ally’s protection demands no less.
“Last night in the State of the Union, we heard President Biden’s resolute opposition to Russia’s illegal invasion. Today, once again, Democrats an signaling our unshakable support for Ukraine’s right to exist and for the Ukrainian peoples’ right to freedom and self-determination. We will not waver in the weeks and months ahead.”
