U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-09), whose Ninth District encompasses one of America’s largest Korean American communities, this afternoon congratulated Yoon Suk-yeol on his election as the next President of the Republic of Korea.
“I congratulate Yoon Suk-yeol on his impressive election in a close and spirited contest,” said Rep. Pascrell. “South Korea is one of the most vibrant democracies on earth and one of America’s most important partners. I look forward to Mr. Yoon’s presidency strengthening U.S.-South Korea relations even further, working with our international partners to counter the Chinese Communist Party’s growing authoritarianism, and teaming up to contain the threat posed by hermit North Korea. North Jersey is home to one of the largest Korean American communities in the entire United States. Our neighbors add immeasurably to our state economy and culture and they more than anyone yearn for peace and liberty on the Korean peninsula. I hope and pray Mr. Yoon’s presidency helps us reach those goals.”
