Budget first draft a strong starting point for a better America
U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-09) today reacted positively to President Biden’s budget proposal unveiled this morning.
“There’s a lot to like in President Biden’s second budget proposal. Here, finally, is a plan which looks out for our national future by asking the wealthiest families in the country to at last pay their fair share,” said Rep. Pascrell. “The $360 million to fully fund the nonprofit security grant program is in line with bipartisan efforts I’ve led and is essential for protecting our houses of worship against a rising tide of violent domestic extremism. So too is the $10 billion to respond to the unprecedented humanitarian and refugee crisis blanketing the globe that has been exacerbated by Russia’s violent invasion of Ukraine. I commend the President for cutting through the noise and giving law enforcement the support they need to lower rising crime. I also am pleased to see historic proposal of $3.6 billion for investing in our National Parks to prioritize preserving our public spaces, investing in our infrastructure, and tackling the climate crisis. The Biden budget would provide the IRS $14.1 billion, an 18 percent increase over last year’s enacted amount. This new funding will support the IRS’s efforts to modernize and provide much-needed enhanced taxpayer assistance. This Biden budget is another blueprint to America’s continued national growth. Our members will huddle together in the coming weeks and months to assess the President’s suggestions and put forward a budget that does right by America.”
