MOORESTOWN, NJ – Burlington County business owner and congressional challenger Bob Healey today issued the following statement:
“Yesterday, Congressman Kim – who can’t run on his 100% support for Joe Biden’s disastrous policies — launched a lie and smear campaign straight out of the Washington, DC political playbook.
My position on the issue of abortion is clear and it is mainstream. I am personally pro-life, while believing that women should have the legal right to an abortion in cases of rape or incest, or if continuing to term could threaten the woman’s life.
I also believe that legislators in both parties can and should find compromise on the issue of elective first-trimester abortions. I oppose a federal ban.
Andy Kim, on the other hand, is the only candidate in this race with extreme views that are out-of-step with a vast majority of New Jerseyans. Let’s be clear:
Andy Kim supports and voted for expanded access to late-term abortions.
Andy Kim supports and voted for allowing non-doctors to perform abortions.
Andy Kim supports and voted for prohibiting parents from knowing if their 15-year old daughter is having an abortion.
By any definition, that is radical. Yet, the Congressman would rather attack my mainstream position, instead of defending his extreme position. Sadly, the media is largely complicit in allowing him to duck these important questions.
The same way too many in the media allow him to avoid questions about how a self-proclaimed moderate belongs to a radical group in Congress that supports defunding the police, or why he thinks it’s a good idea for early elementary school students should learn about gender ID and sexual orientation.
The good news is that voters are savvy and they are smart, and they are paying attention like never before. Andy Kim can’t hide from his radical past or extreme views any longer. I won’t let him.”
