Burlington County Republicans have endorsed businessman Bob Healey, Jr. for Congress in New Jersey’s 3rd district.
Healey faces Ian Smith, the owner of South Jersey’s Atilis Gym and the prominent critic of Gov. Phil Murphy, in the June GOP primary. The winner will take on Rep. Andy Kim (D-Moorestown).
“By nominating a successful businessman and philanthropist like Bob Healey, we can start bringing common sense back to our nation’s capital and be a check-and-balance on this failed president,” said Sean Earlen, the Burlington GOP county chairman. “Unlike Andy Kim, Bob is no DC insider. From running a business that employs over 1,600 people in South Jersey; to leading charities that work with at-risk youth in Burlington County, and women and children in Sierra Leone, Bob knows how to meet vital needs both home and abroad.”
Burlington is also backing former Collingswood school board member Claire Gustafson in her race to unseat Rep. Donald Norcross (D-Camden) in the 1st district.
Mike Ditzel, a U.S. Coast Guard veteran and Burlington County Sheriff’s Department lieutenant, will run for Sheriff.
Former Moorestown Board of Education member Jeff Fortune will be the GOP candidate for county commissioner.
“The Burlington County Republican Committee has a long history of successfully recruiting and supporting diverse and dynamic candidates for elected office,” Earlen stated. “We’re proud to continue that tradition with a slate that’s ready to take back control of the House of Representatives and give Republicans a seat at the table in Mount Holly.”
