Today, Raúl M. Grijalva (AZ-03) announced $82,500 in grant funding for Campesinos Sin Fronteras from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) as part of a $110 million federal initiative to improve health care facilities in rural towns across the United States.
This Rural Development investment will be used to rehabilitate and equip a building in Gadsden, Arizona with the necessary furniture and equipment to provide critical health services to the area. The project will enable Campesinos Sin Fronteras to expand their COVID education, testing, vaccines, and other relief to a low-income farmworker community. The funds are provided through the American Rescue Plan Act passed by Democrats in response to the pandemic to help rural health care facilities, tribes and communities expand access to health care services and nutrition assistance.
“This latest in federal funding will provide much needed support to expand availability of testing and care for the Gadsden area,” said Rep. Grijalva. “I’m proud to support increased investments and access to critical health care services for rural, tribal, and low-income communities and am happy to see these funds being used to meet critical health needs throughout our state.”
Campesinos Sin Fronteras is a nonprofit organization providing improved access to health care, behavioral health, social services, workforce development, and similar resources for agricultural workers.
