Last week, Rep. Salazar’s Resolution (H.Res. 548) denouncing the horrors of socialism gained more than 200 cosponsors, making it the third most cosponsored resolution in the 117th U.S. Congress and the most supported piece of legislation from any freshman lawmaker.

This resolution outlines several historical examples of the greatest crimes and tragedies of socialism, and why such a system goes against the founding principles of our great nation. It specifically highlights examples in: USSR, China, Cambodia, North Korea, Cuba, and Venezuela.

“Over one-third of the entire U.S. Congress has made a powerful statement about how dangerous socialist policies really are,” said Rep. Salazar. “We cannot ignore the fact that more than 100 million people have lost their lives from failed experiments in socialism – and we have historical evidence that it fails every time. The United States of America was built on freedom and individual liberty and we must be vigilant in defending these rights.”
