State Rep. Tavia Galonski (D-Akron) today issued a statement on President Biden’s recent signing of the Inflation Reduction Act and the CHIPS Act, two historic legislative achievements that will lower costs for health care and energy, tackle the climate crisis, and create good-paying jobs for thousands of Ohioans.

“With the signing of the Inflation Reduction Act and the CHIPS Act, President Biden and Democrats have delivered back-to-back wins that will directly impact Ohioans,” said Rep. Galonski. “These historic bills will bring good-paying manufacturing jobs back to Ohio, take meaningful steps to address climate change, and build a brighter future for Ohio’s workers, farmers, and families.”

The Inflation Reduction Act will:

·         Lower energy and health care costs

·         Fund environmental justice initiatives

·         Improve and expand healthcare coverage for individuals enrolled in ACA plans and Medicare

·         Ensure that wealthy individuals and corporations pay their fair share in taxes

The CHIPS Act will:

·         Lower costs on everyday goods for consumers

·         Boost investment in domestic semiconductor production, including Intel’s multi-billion dollar investment to build a semiconductor plant in Central Ohio

·         Create thousands of jobs in the manufacturing and technology industries.
