Charlie Crist, candidate for governor of Florida, released a statement slamming DeSantis’s extremist abortion ban following a Planned Parenthood press conference where it was revealed that a young, middle-school aged girl in Florida was denied an abortion after surviving incest.
In a statement, Crist said:
“The lengths to which these women, some just children, had to go to exercise their freedom to choose is heartbreaking. Prohibiting a middle school-aged girl, a victim of incest, from getting an abortion is not just cruel — it’s barbaric.
“There is blood on Governor DeSantis’s hands. And if elected, there will only be more once he passes his total abortion ban.
“This is what we’re fighting for this November. We’re fighting for your sister, your daughter, your loved one. Choice, freedom, basic human decency, and women’s rights are on the line — and we’re going to fight like hell to protect them.”
