Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (IA-01) today announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is awarding $13 million to the City of Cedar Rapids for derecho relief efforts.

"Cedar Rapids is still recovering from the devastating 2020 derecho. As we continue to recover, I will continue to advocate for our community in Congress and work to bring federal resources back home."  -Congresswoman Ashley Hinson

Background:

  • Hinson supported legislation, including the FY22 appropriations bill, that allocated resources for the Disaster Relief Fund. This supports recovery efforts to communities impacted by disaster.
  • This FY22 appropriations legislation also increased the federal cost share for derecho recovery efforts to 90%, easing the financial burden on localities.
