The below advocacy groups supported Hinson's efforts on behalf of Iowa agriculture.
Iowa Renewable Fuels Association
“Iowa’s delegation spoke with one united voice to support consumer access to cleaner, lower-cost E15. IRFA thanks Representative Cindy Axne for working with Democratic leadership to ensure this E15 fix was included in the bill. We also applaud Representatives Randy Feenstra, Mariannette Miller-Meeks, and Ashley Hinson for putting aside party politics and standing up for what is right for Iowa and consumers across the country. E15 costs on average 10 to 30 cents less per gallon than regular unleaded fuel, providing instant relief in this time of record-high gas prices. It has never been more important than it is today that E15 continue to be available at the pump across the country all year long.”-IRFA Executive Director Monte Shaw
“The future of biofuels is a low carbon future. The PRECISE Act will help put the tools in the hands of farmers they need to lower their carbon footprint and enhance their environmental stewardship. And lower carbon feedstocks equal lower carbon biofuels. IRFA commends Rep. Hinson for this innovative approach help both farmers and the environment – and all of us who rely on them.” -IRFA Executive Director Monte Shaw
Iowa Farm Bureau
"With consumers facing record prices at the gas pump, having a permanent solution for year-round E15 is an important step forward. We applaud our House delegation for supporting this bipartisan legislation that will help lower fuel costs and increase demand for homegrown biofuels." -Iowa Farm Bureau President Brent Johnson
Growth Energy
“As oil prices surge around the world, higher blends of ethanol offer a lower-cost, lower-emission option for hardworking families across America. Over the past few months, we’ve seen E15 deliver savings approaching $0.60 per gallon in some areas of the country. This legislation would solidify those savings and bring relief to more drivers nationwide. We’re grateful to our champions in Congress for advancing bipartisan solutions to unleash the power of American biofuels to combat skyrocketing gas prices.” -Growth Energy CEO, Emily Skor
National Corn Growers Association
“The PRECISE Act, originally introduced by Rep. Ashley Hinson, helps farmers access precision agriculture technology through USDA programs. Farmers’ increased productivity, sustainability and efficiency are resulting in record corn yields using fewer resources to meet food, feed, fuel and export needs, helping keep consumer prices down in the face of high oil prices and improving environmental outcomes.” -National Corn Growers Association
Iowa National Heritage Foundation
“Precision agriculture and technology play a valuable role in protecting our soil and water, and the PRECISE Act will help equip farmers with tools to work in concert with our natural resources.”-Iowa National Heritage Foundation
Background:
During Hinson's 20-county tours, she has heard from Iowa farmers and the agriculture community about the benefits of precision agriculture technology, as well as the major cost burden that can prevent farmers from accessing these tools. Congresswoman Hinson's PRECISE Act will make it easier for farmers to access precision agriculture technology through USDA programs they already know and trust.
The PRECISE Act is endorsed by: the National Corn Growers Association, the Iowa Farm Bureau, John Deere, the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation, the Iowa Corn Growers Association, and the Iowa Soybean Association.
The House also passed the following bills co-led by Congresswoman Hinson:
The Year-Round Fuel Choice Act: This bipartisan, bicameral legislation would allow retailers nationwide to sell E-15 blended fuel year round. Blended fuel is a ready, Iowa-based solution to reduce dependence on foreign energy and bring down prices at the pump now.
The Strengthening the Agriculture and Food Supply Chain Act: This bipartisan legislation would create a dedicated task force to shore up the American food supply chain to bring prices down and prevent future shortages.
The Biofuel Infrastructure and Agriculture Product Market Expansion Act: This bipartisan legislation would authorize a grant program through the USDA to help update existing tanks and pumps to accommodate higher blends of biofuels.
