Hinson Statement on Deadly Human Smuggling at Southern Border

Iowa

ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (IA-01) released the following statement after over 46 migrants were found dead in a trailer in San Antonio, likely the deadliest human smuggling case in recent U.S. history.

"This is a catastrophic consequence of the Biden Administration's policies that incentivize illegal immigration and encourage people to put their lives in the hands of criminals. I am praying for those who lost their lives, those who are injured, and their families. As border patrol agents told me recently, these inhumane policies benefit cartels and human smugglers who clearly have no regard for human life. The Biden Administration must stop ignoring the humanitarian and public safety crisis they have created so that we can secure our border, stop the dangerous surge of illegal immigration, and fix our broken immigration system." -Congresswoman Ashley Hinson

Background:

Hinson recently returned from her second trip to the Southern Border where she met directly with border patrol agents and law enforcement on the ground. At a House Appropriations Committee markup last week, Hinson advocated for the full implementation of the Remain in Mexico Policy and additional resources to secure our border.
