Iowa

ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (IA-01) today announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is awarding $4.4 million to the City of Marshalltown for derecho relief efforts.

"Marshalltown suffered serious damage as a result of the Derecho, and the community is still recovering. These ongoing relief efforts have put a major strain on local resources and these funds will help the City of Marshalltown fully recover. I will continue working to bring disaster relief resources back to Iowa so that we can become whole again after this horrible storm."  -Congresswoman Ashley Hinson

Background:

  • Hinson supported legislation, including the FY22 appropriations package, that allocated resources for the Disaster Relief Fund. This supports recovery efforts to communities impacted by disaster.
  • This FY22 appropriations legislation also increased the federal cost share for derecho recovery efforts to 90%, easing the financial burden on localities.
