Steve Scalise for Congress: The HEAT Report

Louisiana

ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

The Latest:

Last week, HEAT Leaders and 127 House Republicans sent a letter to President Biden demanding he reverse his anti-American energy policies and unleash American energy by issuing a five-year offshore oil and natural gas leasing plan after his administration let the previous plan expire.

President Biden, however, made clear that he intends to continue the same misguided policies that created this self-inflicted energy crisis. Instead of unleashing domestic energy production, he opted to drain our already historically low Strategic Petroleum Reserve and begged OPEC to increase production, rather than approving the more than 4,400 permits to drill and produce cleaner energy here at home.

With winter around the corner, American families are scraping by to make ends meet with sky-high gas prices and home utility bills. House Republicans are committed to ending Biden’s war on American energy and getting us back to lower energy costs.

This Week's HEAT Member Highlights:

Republican Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) pointed to the administration's failed energy policies for America's high gas prices.

HEAT Co-Chair Representative Jeff Duncan (R-S.C.) called out Joe Biden for draining the Strategic Petroleum Reserve as a political Band-Aid to cover up his self-imposed energy crisis when he should instead unleash domestic energy production and utilize our nation’s abundant natural resources.

HEAT Co-Chair Representative Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.) noted President Biden has depleted the Strategic Petroleum Reserve more than every past president – combined.

Representative French Hill (R-Ark.) and House Committee on Financial Services Ranking Member Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.) sent a letter to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen urging her to support and advocate for nuclear energy investments at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and other international financial institutions.

Representative Stephanie Bice (R-Okla.) called President Biden’s decision to decimate the Strategic Petroleum Reserve politically motivated.

Representative Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas) called out Biden’s abusive relationship with American oil and gas on Fox Business — slamming the administration for prioritizing foreign oil over American energy production.

Representative Garret Graves (R-La.) issued a statement calling out the administration for releasing 15 million barrels from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve instead of tapping available production in the Gulf of Mexico.

Representative Morgan Griffith (R-Va.) slammed the Biden Administration for continuing to drain our country’s emergency oil reserves instead of producing more energy here.

Representative Pete Stauber (R-Minn.) called out the Biden Administration’s political decision to release oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve instead of unleashing the full potential of American energy production.

Representative Tim Walberg (R-Mich.) criticized President Biden for using our emergency energy reserves as a political tool, rather than finding real solutions.
