Republican candidate Juan Ciscomani (and the dark money groups funding his campaign), released yet another misleading attack ad. Democratic congressional candidate for Arizona’s 6th District Kirsten Engel released the following statement: “I do not support defunding the police.
I support fully funding our police and ensuring law enforcement have the resources to keep our communities safe and secure our border. As a state legislator, I consistently supported funding for local law enforcement and even broke with my party as the only Democrat to vote for a bill which included millions of dollars in funding for public safety. I am proud to be endorsed by the Pima County Sheriff, because he knows he can trust me to keep Arizona families safe.
“I am disappointed that my Republican opponent repeatedly attempts to distort the truth and mislead Arizona voters. This ad is obviously a poor attempt to misrepresent my words through crude video edits. In the full video, I am clearly discussing opportunities to provide law enforcement with additional funding and resources for responding to mental health and drug related crises. “Ciscomani is simply continuing his pattern of lying to and running away from the voters of Arizona’s 6th Congressional District to distract from his extreme, unpopular and antiquated views on issues like abortion and marriage equality.” Ciscomani cheered the overturning of Roe v. Wade, which gave women the fundamental right to choose. Recently, in an Arizona Daily Star interview, Ciscomani voiced his support for a ban on abortion in Arizona without exceptions for rape or incest. Last month, Ciscomani was seen running away from Arizona voters to avoid defending his radical stance on abortion.
