Today, Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-42) announced that, at his request, $17.2 million in funding for Riverside County transportation projects was included in the Fiscal Year 2023 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Bill. The bill was advanced today by the House Appropriations Committee and will now head to the House floor for consideration. Funding included in the bill for local projects is allocated within their respective agency program accounts and does not raise the overall spending level of the bill.

The bill includes:

  • $2 million for the Magnolia Avenue Improvements Project in Corona
  • $1.6 million for the Limonite Gap Pedestrian Bridge Project in Eastvale
  • $2.6 million for the I–215 and Keller Road Interchange Project in Murrieta
  • $4 million for the Scott Road/Bundy Canyon Road Improvements Project in Menifee
  • $3 million for the I–15 Express Lanes Southern Extension Project in Temescal Valley
  • $2 million for the Auto Center Drive Bridge Improvements Project in Lake Elsinore
  • $2 million for the Ontario Avenue/I–15 Multimodal Corridor Enhancements Project in Corona
"The significant funding I have been able to secure for Riverside County transportation projects will benefit residents by improving our local roads and highways," said Rep. Calvert. "Our region continues to experience growth and the traffic congestion challenges that coincide with that growth. We must continue to invest in projects that expand capacity and provide solutions to these challenges in both the short and long term. I'm thankful for the work our cities and regional transportation agencies have put in to prepare these projects that are poised to receive federal funding."

"Corona is excited to be included in the Transportation/HUD Appropriation Bill recommendation," said Corona Mayor Wes Speake. "The Magnolia Avenue Bridge Widening Project and the Ontario Avenue Road Widening Project are both critical projects that will help reduce traffic congestion, enhance mobility, and most importantly, improve safety for motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians."

"The City of Eastvale is elated to have the support of Congressman Calvert with the award of the FY23 Transportation/HUD Appropriations Bill," said Eastvale City Engineer Jimmy Chung. "The $2 million funding will go toward Limonite Gap Pedestrian Bridge which will revolutionize Eastvale by implementing a direct connection to adjacent Cities Chino and Ontario. Eastvale is on the brink of transformation—from a newly incorporated City to a metropolis of new businesses and residential living. Through this collaboration with Congressman Calvert, the City of Eastvale will bridge a path for its community and surrounding neighbors. The City of Eastvale thanks the office of Congressman Calvert for this opportunity."

"The City of Murrieta is proud of the partnership we have had over the years with our congressional representative," said Murrieta Mayor Jonathan Ingram. "This support will assist in funding two Murrieta projects that will provide regional impact on public safety and access to Murrieta's medical corridor."

"The Scott Road/Bundy Canyon Road Widening Project will improve regional traffic safety and ultimately help save lives along this multi-jurisdiction corridor," said Menifee Mayor Bill Zimmerman. "We are thankful for Congressman Calvert's continued leadership and efforts to secure funding for critical infrastructure projects in our growing community."

"RCTC greatly appreciates Representative Calvert for submitting $3 million in Community Project Funding for RCTC's I-15 Express Lanes Southern Extension project," said City of Lake Elsinore Council Member Bob Magee, First Vice-Chair of the Riverside County Transportation Commission. "With support from our federal partners, RCTC is committed to advancing mobility solutions of all types in the I-15 corridor to serve Riverside County residents, commuters, and businesses."

"The City of Lake Elsinore is grateful for Congressman Ken Calvert's support of this critical infrastructure project that improves the foundation of a 65-year-old bridge utilized by thousands of residents each day," said Lake Elsinore Mayor Timothy J. Sheridan. "Improving traffic and safety circulation in our community is a top priority, and this funding helps us move closer to our goal of growing a vibrant and active City".
