As a leader of the free world, many nations look to us during negotiations or times of crisis. Although the president is vested by the Constitution with the main responsibility to conduct foreign affairs on behalf of the American people, Congress should still use the opportunities we have to maintain our diplomatic ties with our allies and ensure that America will always be that “shining city on a hill.”
We must continue to be wary of other nations who might mean to do us harm or interfere with our country through the United Nations. Additionally, we should continue to stand by our only democratic ally in the Middle East: Israel.
