LOUISVILLE, KY – U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) issued the following statement today regarding the tragic death of Beechwood High School graduate and University of Kentucky nursing student, Anne Gieske:

“The Commonwealth is grieving over the news that a University of Kentucky student, Anne Gieske of Fort Mitchell, Kentucky, died this weekend after being caught in South Korea’s horrific crowd surge incident. Anne was studying to be a nurse, a profession fitting of her reputation as a kind and selfless friend to all. Elaine and I are praying for the Gieske family in this difficult time and offer our deepest condolences to everyone affected by this tragic disaster.”
