 From October 13, 2021 post

Tuesday, Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) released a statement after voting no on the Democrat proposal to raise the debt ceiling:

“With nearly $30 trillion in debt and no meaningful plan to rein in wasteful spending, I opposed today's vote to temporarily lift the debt ceiling. Democrats – who control the House, Senate, and White House – have remain committed to enacting the most harmful tax-and-spending agenda in the history of our Nation. I refuse to green-light these harmful proposals that unfairly target our energy industry, fuel further inflation, impose crippling tax hikes on American businesses, and burden future generations with unsustainable debt.

“Our children and grandchildren will be saddled with the burden because of our refusal to address the national debt. It is past time that we develop a real strategy to get our country back on a path to fiscal sanity.”
