U.S. Senator Brian Schatz (D-Hawai‘i) today released the following statement on President Joe Biden’s nomination of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the U.S. Supreme Court.

“Judge Jackson has the legal expertise, record of fairness, and extensive experience – both professional and personal – that will make her an excellent addition to the Supreme Court. She is a highly respected jurist who has excelled in her career as a public defender, at the U.S. Sentencing Commission, in private practice, and as a federal judge. Throughout her years of service, Judge Jackson has demonstrated a dedication to the Constitution, including a commitment to equal justice under the law.

“The president has nominated a historic, well-qualified candidate who will help the Court better reflect the diversity of our country. I look forward to an in-depth review of Judge Jackson’s qualifications and a fair hearing and vote in the Senate.”
