RENO, NV — Nevada U.S. Senate candidate Adam Laxalt released the following statement after learning that the U.S. economy contracted for a second consecutive quarter, which is widely accepted as the indicator of economic recession.
“This recession is a direct result of the failed liberal policies championed by President Biden and Senator Cortez Masto. Their decision to spend trillions of taxpayer dollars sent inflation soaring to a 40 year high. Their assault on American energy production has led to gas prices exceeding $5 a gallon. And their failure to address supply chain issues has led to higher prices for goods that folks rely on everyday,” said Laxalt.
“Despite the dismal state of our economy, Cortez Masto and President Biden are doubling down on their failed policies by rushing to pass a massive spending bill that will raise taxes on American families and job creating businesses.
“It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that it’s not a good idea to raise taxes in the midst of a recession. But Cortez Masto and her liberal allies are determined to force through their liberal agenda, whatever the cost may be.”
