Today, Governor Sisolak celebrated Indigenous People’s Day with University of Nevada, Reno indigenous students and faculty, as well as Nevada Democratic Victory’s Tribal outreach team.

During his first term, Governor Sisolak waived tuition fees for Native American students attending the Nevada System of Higher Education, funded the Stewart Indian School Cultural Center & Museum and expanded high speed internet access to tribal lands. The governor also prohibited racially discriminatory names, logos, mascots or songs in Nevada’s K-12 public schools and banned “sundown sirens,” a racist relic that was used to terrorize Native Americans.

In an attempt to include every Nevadan in his reelection, Governor Sisolak launched a Tribal Advisory Council in June to provide direct feedback to his campaign on outreach efforts and forward-looking policy.
